Scholarships & Awards

Are you an individual or leader of a Catholic school or vocation, Irish organization, or cultural group that is seeking financial support in Tennessee? We invite you to apply for Sons of Erin Foundation funding. Sons of Erin has three types of scholarships you may be eligible for:

Religious Vocational Support

Awarded to defray or offset the cost of vocational education and assist with financial need for those pursuing a religious life in Tennessee. Seminarians with Irish lineage pursuing the priesthood are given priority and consideration.  

Eligible Examples:

  • Fund a Seminarian Student’s transportation, food, and educational expenses as they pursue the priesthood. 

  • Support the unavoidable and high costs of living for Dominican Sisters as they pursue religious life. 

Irish Cultural Contributions:

Sons of Erin supports efforts dedicated to community outreach which educate Tennesseans about the rich cultural and historical contributions of the Irish in America. The Foundation is pleased to receive requests from individuals or groups in need of financial support for cultural events, arts, or other Irish American community engagement.

Eligible Examples:

  • Sponsor a Silent Auction item or Donation for an Irish Cultural and/or Community Event

  • Funding fees for a Cultural or Arts group to participate in a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Diocesan Scholarships

Recipients are individuals attending Catholic Elementary and Secondary schools in Tennessee that may require financial assistance for extracurriculars, clubs, events, or extenuating circumstances.

Eligible Example:

  • Our foundation helps sponsor an annual Saint Patrick's contest which has been incorporated into the diocesan school’s core curriculum. Second and Sixth-Grade Students are instructed in various lessons reflecting the initiatives and values espoused by Saint Patrick. Students then present an entry honoring his legacy which is judged and the the top three placements in each grade receive vouchers to assist with the cost of tuition. 

  • Listed below are spotlights on our annual St. Patrick Contest in McEwen, TN with awards from both 2nd and 6th grade in art and music. This year’s sixth grade winner, Reid, wrote a song about Saint Patrick, which you listen to on our facebook page HERE! The The young man presenting is Griffin Brewster who is a Seminarian in our diocese as well as an AOH member in our Sons of Erin Division.  Not only that, he grew up and went to St Patrick School in McEwen as a child!
