Frequently Asked Questions
How can I get involved?
You can get involved in the foundation by praying for our initiatives, participating in fundraising events, and with generous financial donations. Learn more about our scholarships and awards on our Scholarships page or Donate Now! You can also reach out via email if you’d like to volunteer.
We provide financial and volunteer work hours supporting food distribution groups like the Hibernian Hunger Project, while funding educational initiatives and scholarship programs to Catholic students like Project St. Patrick. Additionally, we offer financial support opportunities to those pursuing religious vocations. Alongside our Catholic-community focus, we work to foster the growth of Irish culture and maintain Irish heritage in Tennessee with financial support and sponsorship of cultural events like the annual Irish Network Nashville’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
How does Sons of Erin support Irish-Catholic charity and initiatives in Tennessee?
What will donations raised by Sons of Erin do for the Irish Catholic community?
These funds will be utilized to help support Catholic student enrollment through tuition vouchers and expand interest in our Catholic schools through the funding of awards for educational clubs and activities. Additionally, funds support the cultural expression of Irish initiatives in Tennessee. Finally, donations will go to support the education and vocation of our seminarians discerning the priesthood or Dominican sisters’ basic needs, especially those men and women who are Irish by birth or descent and living in Tennessee.
Who are the target scholarship recipients, individuals, or organization for Sons of Erin Foundation awards?
Our Diocesan Scholarships are for individuals attending Catholic elementary and secondary schools in Tennessee, and our foundation helps sponsor an annual Saint Patrick's contest which has been incorporated into the diocesan school’s core curriculum. Second and sixth-grade students are instructed in various lessons reflecting the initiatives and values espoused by Saint Patrick. Students then present an entry honoring his legacy which are judged and the winners receive vouchers to assist with the cost of tuition.
Religious Vocational Support is offered to defray the cost of education and assist with financial needs of an individual discerning Catholic religious vocations in Tennessee.
We also provide Irish Cultural Contributions when appropriate to engage and educate Tennesseans about the rich cultural and historical contributions of Irish and Irish Americans. Whether by sponsoring parade marching fees for a group, donating to support traditional Irish music or athletics, or being a sponsor of an Irish cultural event, we’re proud to be members of the Irish-Catholic Tennessee community.
